Tribute to the Spirit: Little Big Band & Special Guests, 11-20-09 : November 20, 2009 at Meany Hall, University of Washington.  The Burke Museum presented an evening of contemporary Native American music, storytelling, comedy and spirit.  Performers included Star Nayea, Gene Tagaban, Swil Kanim, Preston Singletary, Silver Jackson and many special guests.  In combination, these talented musicians offered an uplifting, evocative, joyous experience along with a rebuke to anyone who believes Indian culture is fading away.

JUSTICE NOW! Healthcare, Housing, Jobs and Education: 28th Annual MLK March in Seattle : JUSTICE NOW! Healthcare, Housing, Jobs and Education on Monday, January 18, 2010, Seatte, WA.
 
The Martin Luther King Celebration Committee presented the 28th annual region-wide Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration with Workshops, Rally, and March. The rally included speakers such as local area youth, Counciman Larry Gossett, Lynn Domnigo, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Mayor Mike McGinn and Lisa Daaguard from the Defender Association.  The march wound from Garfield High School to the Federal Building on 2nd Avenue with refreshements served at Garfield's lunch room after the march.

The Martin Luther King Celebration Committee is composed of dozens of grassroots, labor, business, minority, and progressive community organizations and volunteers from throughout the Puget Sound region. Annually, these groups come together and organize our community's largest tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  For more info or to support this great effort see:  http://www.mlkseattle.org/
