Vanished Kingdoms and Sacred Portraits of Tibet : Opening events for the Burke Museum exhibit featuring the Wulsin photographs of Tibet, China & Mongolia.  These events took place on November 3 and 4, 2006.  The exhibit includes 1920s photos by explorers Frederick and Janet Wuslin and sacred religious paintings called Thangkas from the 17th through 20th centuries.  The exhibit remains open until February 4, 2007.  For more information see:

Tibet Fest  2006 : This event is a celebration of the culture of Tibet, a country of nonviolence, peace and love.  Musicians, dancers and vendors helped to bring the beauty of Tibet to the city of Seattle.  This event was sponsored by the Tibetan Association of Washington and a is part of the Seattle Center Festal Series which celebrates world cultures. Fremont Public Association Cultural Awareness Week : On Thursday October 5, the culmination of cultural awareness week at FPA.  Attendees enjoyed a mariachi band, great food, an award presentation and then received words of wisdom from Ronald Chisum from the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond. Juneteenth in Seattle, June 17, 2006 : The Seattle Central Area Chamber of Commerce (SCACC) sponsored the Juneteenth Freedom Festival & Parade 2006. The Festival was held in Pratt Park, 20th & E. Yesler, June 16, 17 & 18. Juneteenth is a Celebration of Freedom commemorating the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas; the last state to free enslaved African Americans. www.scacc.net
