Dia de Muertos: A Mexican Celebration to Remember Our Departed 2011

Live at the Seattle Center October 29-30, 2011: Dia de Muertos or “Day of the Dead” joins together tradition, culture and art. It is a celebration where remembering our departed is to remember what has been our history. Presented by Taller Mexicano para la Cultura y las Artes.

Participants created sugar skulls and paper skeletons, explored expressive community altars and marched in a musical procession lit by candles to remember the dearly departed. The celebration joined tradition and art to keep alive the very deepest of Mexican culture, where indigenous and Spanish roots intertwine through spectacular sand paintings, special foods, face painting, exquisite rituals and music and dance.
