Daniel Lev Memorial Dinner, February 27, 2007
An event sponsored by the University of Washington School of Law Asian Law Center, this dinner celebrated the life and work of Daniel Lev. Daniel Lev taught political science at the University of Washington for 29 years before his demise in July of 2006. Known to Indonesians as "Bapak Dan" or "Father Dan", Professor Lev wrote several seminal books and articles on Indonesian courts and politics. Professor Lev worked alongside lawyers, scholars and dissidents to improve a dysfunctional legal system in which police brutality and corrupt judges ran rampant during the long-running Suharto regime.
