Black Achievers Banquet 2011
On May 24, 2011, the annual Black Achievers Scholarship & Recognition Banquet took place at the Herban Feast in Seattle WA. The Black Achievers Program is based at the Meredith Mathews East Madison YMCA , and offers high school youth opportunities to explore career options, develop leadership skills, prepare for college, and participate in service learning and social activities. Through caring relationships with local business professionals and high quality programming, Youth Achievers learn to set educational goals, understand professional standards, and strengthen developmental assets.
Seven college-bound seniors were honored at this event as they received scholarship awards to assist them with college. An inspiring address was given by former Seattle Mayor Norm Rice.
